I got out about 1 mile and crashed on the black ice not once (come cope with that) but twice, so I turned around and when on the turbo instead. 🙁

No black ice here – it's almost t-shirt weather.

No really, I walked to work wearing a short sleeve shirt and windproof type jacket over the top and was far too warm.

I should be on the bike, not avoiding work in the office…

Plenty of normal ice around on my off road run this morning…both feet in the air and landed right on my arse 😀

I tend to avoid inner-city areas with lots of black ice. Once out in rural areas, I never have any problem with white ice.

Savage black ice as we crossed over The Fosse Way this morning, very nearly shat meself !

p.s. left the house at 4.15 this morning to call round for my mate and it wasn't that bad then.

😳 fell off the road bike 12 yards from the end of my drive. Was riding on what I thought was tarmac between the frozen snow. On closer inspection, about 3 inches from the ground whilst I was laying prone, I discovered it was actually clear ice with water running over the top. Wasn't too bad after that, managed another 64 miles but I do hurt now, think that may have been the miles and hills rather than the fall.

Did about a mile in 8 – 12" of snow on my new bike, turned round and headed home to wash the new bike.

Yep, lots of it up Clent today, some really dicey bits going away from Nimmings. Had a couple of very slow spped falls.

Also managed to prang my car on it last week. Not happy.

crashed on white ice, covered in water as it was raining. it was so slippy, trying to unclip whilst riding twisted the bike from underneath…
the crash was classic, horizontal in the air. must have made a good sound as the local mr and mrs came rushing out of their house 30 yards away in dressing gowns to see if i was ok!
12 miles from home, dont have a turbo trainer.

Went to Cannock Chase yesterday & it was pretty icy in places. Handily enough, the slippiest bits seemed to be on off-camber corners.

Riding on some fire road we got to a puddle across the whole width – with an ice base. Mate was infront of me, his bike went out, but he got a foot down and slithered to a halt.
I saw him slipping, and stupidly braked…cue my bike completely sliding out from under me, couldn't unclip fast enough as I hadn't released the tension on my new pedals and I ended up sliding to a halt in a freezing cold 4" deep puddle!
Cleaned half of me up nicely though & once back on the bike it wasn't even that cold. Just glad it didn't happen at the start of the ride!

Did a flier over the bars on my Dialled Alpine in Swinley today. All my fault.

Approching the "Tank Trail", there is a small drop in with a lip. My mate ahead of me stopped to check conditions in the gulley but I just carried on riding and did just a small "careful" hop of the lip. BUT after the lip the ground was soft clay and had bean eaten away. Unfortunately my front wheel just squelched & sunk into the mud and over the bars I went. Just bashed my knees hard on the ground. Pain and muddy but luckily not much else wrong. I wish I'd had pads on!

I noticed a helmet peak not far from where I landed! Someone else must have wiped out there too. The drop in is "very easy" but with the ground being soft you need a bigger jump in to avoid all the soft clay after the lip as I found out.

Today's lesson. Check before riding over lips after heavy rain etc!

There was Quite a bit of snow left in Swinley today and some Ice too. the main problem was the snow melt flooding a few trails.

I went down like a sack of spuds too!

I had seen the danger area and was only doing about 3mph on some transparent ice/compacted snow and Wallop! the bike just went from underneath me. The next thing I knew I was lying on my side.

I nearly did a few times, not on black ice but on wet white ice. 2 wheel drifting and the back end just about overtaking the front but just managed to stay upright til the slide took me to the edge of the path. More by luck than skill I think. Horrible feeling, a few times I felt the rear end wagging and just thought "That means the front end's got the exact same amount of grip, ie bugger all"
