great new UK melodic hardcore punk band, very much 80s DC/dischord sounding (think rites of spring, teen idles etc or maybe sort of like shitty limits)...

Crikey, I've only heard of about 20% of those popular beat combos and solo artists .....
Martin Simpson's new album, 'Purpose and Grace' is rather nice if anyone's interested. It's got some jolly good guests on it such as Richard Thompson, June Tabor and Dick Gaughn.
I've also been listening to Jack Bruce 'Songs for a Tailor' Still sounds good after 41 years ........ I'll get my tartan dressing gown and slippers "3 sugars, please"

Still listening to Virtue by Emmy the Great a lot- should really take some more CDs out to the garage! Took a while but I'm liking it a lot now, wee bit patchy though.
Her christmas album with Tim Wheeler from Ash just arrived... I predict it will be honking.

Just listened to Katie Shrub's new album 50 Words For Snow, which I enjoyed very much, followed by Sea Of Bees Songs For The Ravens, and I'm now listening to Sharks Took The Rest's EP, Grounds For Hearts To Swell. (Album hopefully soon).
Along with those I'm working my way through albums by:
Asobi Seksu
At The Drive In
The Bangles
Built To Spill
Calexico/Iron & Wine
Devon Sproule
Failure
Half Man Half Biscuit
Laura Veirs
Lisa Hannigan
Mastodon
Modest Mouse
Neutral Milk Hotel
The New Pornographers
Opeth
Piney Gir
Slink
Spoon
Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks
Thea Gilmore
Yo La Tengo
Eleanor Friedberger
That lot's keeping me entertained for a while.Posted 6 months ago # -
