Yet so often i am waiting on much slower ridersregular bikes to catch up when on my “weighs a ton” pugsley…1989 Muddy Fox Courier/ mid ’90s cannondale super v/brand new 29er BMX…

Rik – CK is a good rider and not often phased by technical riding whether it be on a DH track, jump park or the down the beach
I love rik’s world view it must be like a tank driver his field of vision is so narrow. He was chuffing on about 29ers….and rigid bikes….and fat bikes…..I’m sure he’s had a punt at single speeds as well….
Are for people who can’t ride proper bikes fast…….
Bollox, I’ve many KOM’s on “proper bikes” but love riding my Fat Bike.
In fact I’m racing it at this weekends Isle of Man End2End where I’ll be aiming for an under 4hour finishing time, somewhere near my “proper bike” time in 2009 of 3hr’s 36mins (41st place)
I like em, I’ve never rode one, in fact I’ve never even seen one in real life, and I live in the south east, but they’re strangely appealing in a totally pointless (for me), non useful (to me) sort of way……
But I still like em and would love a go on one regardless what the bike fashion police think of them….
I took mine for its maiden ride today just on a bike path.
It was fantastic. They are not super quick but not complete slugs either. Max speed 32 km/hr with a 24km/hr average over 20 km on an urban cycleway is not too bad. I cant wait to try the beach tomorrow.
The main reason i ride one is because it brings a huge smile to my face every time I get on it.
How can something as ridiculus as a fatbike not make you laugh.
If you plan on riding beaches, you will quickly learn that there are different types of sand and that momentum is your friend 😆 The Moonlander (like hugors) has 5″ tyres and will handle softer sand better than the “narrow” 4″ tyres sported by the other types.
I’m not a massive fan of beach riding, preferring to stick to other tyres of trails. I’ve had mine down Glentress (fun) and Laggan Wolftrax (not fun – too rocky) but I’m mostly on what you might call “natural” trails – footpaths etc.
