So, apparently self extracting crankbolts aren't indestructible

….if you abuse them:
My fault. I don’t have a torsion wrench. I tightened it to (handlebar)nm and heard a clicking noise. Upon riding it today in this wonderful weather I heard an almighty crack, got off the bike, nudged the crank with my toe and it fell off to the sound of my sniggering.
Anyhow, lesson learnt, and anyone reading this can themselves learn from my mistake.
