Just thought that I would throw together a ‘Thank you’ thread to everyone on here.
My little sister was desperately in need of a new bike after her last one went missing from work.
Initially, I intended to whip up something dreadful but functional from the spares bin, however the only frame I had was far too big for her.
So, after putting up a wanted ad for a few bits, a new frame (literally nearly new) was acquired from Jaylittle for the princely sum of… nothing!
Since the frame looked so nice, more vgc parts were bought from you lot on the classifieds, leading to a very low budget but very ridable bike!
So, THANK YOU, particularly to
jaylittle for a free frame, delivered to my door!
jonnythelether for the rear wheel, crankset, skewers, rotor and cassette.
cb for the bars and seatpost, with a saddle thrown in for free!
matther01 for the stem
Also, thanks to Halfords for the deore r/mech and shifters for 20 quid!
And Ta to my mate Dave for finally returning my old forks for it!
Ooo and my next door neighbour for an xt f/mech for a fiver.
To say that she likes it would be an understatement!
Between you all, you have just made another mountainbiker!
I had the same when building a bike for my daughter. Plenty of bits sourced off the classifieds. Some donated for free (thanks all!) from the parts pile we’re no doubt all guilty of accumulating in the garage/shed/dining room 😳
@ Teamslug. How the hell do you know ‘desperate Dolly’? 😯
She only moved in a month ago..
Also, I recommended that the ‘bush’ needed work but she just closed the curtains…
The seat is a little low as it was her first try on it, but it fits her just fine! I did worry about that at first, but I can ride it comfortably with the seat up and she is a good deal shorter than I.
