29 years ago today, a blizzard hit Winnipeg the likes of which we had not seen before. I remember going shopping with my parents that evening, and picking up a copy of U2 War. By the time we were heading home, the snow had started to fall hard, and by morning it had covered the entire front of our house.

For a fourteen year-old, it was an incredible experience.

This CBC news clip shows what happened. The crazy ol’ codger stuck in the Winnipeg bus terminal is fantastic!

Growing up by the sea in Devon, snow was a rare thing. Maybe a couple of years we had proper snow as I remember, and living on a steep hill fun sliding down on trays and all kinds, and then smashing my face into a kerb falling off someone’s sled with blood pouring out of my mouth 😀

I stayed with a GF’s friend in Medicine Hat in March 2000, it was really nice one day so Brad say’s ‘Let’s cut the grass’, so we did, had a barbie that night & got up next morning to 2ft of snow. 😯
