So tried to avoid this known fault, by using Shimano rather than Maxle as advised by The Bike Chain. 6 months later ride ending crack + the axle has sheared in the usual place. This is on a trail riding bike (ASR-5) which gets ridden, but not big hucks/jumps, axle is 6 months old.

Anyone had experience of alternatives are there to the Maxle + Shimano bolt through that aren’t going to snap me axle?

    Thanks

You can swap the Pro 2 internals to Evo ones- the Evo axle seems to be fit for purpose. I think it needs a new freehub as well though so it’s not cheap.

Some folks report that Hope have offered this as a warranty replacement but the best they’d do for me was to offer the parts at RRP, you might do better.

Cheers, I’ll give em a shout. Really don’t want something similar to happen 1/2 way down a big hill.

For anyone who’s had this problem.
Hope were great. They replaced the alu axle with a steel one. Hopefully problem sorted.

Just had my (almost 2yr old) Pro 2 built back up into an Evo, FOC.
    Hope are the dogs nads.
