at least they had bothered to turn up to work that day, not wishing to drag up the teachers thread again

TJ - nope, until I clicked the link it's exactly what I thought.

I imagine the round shields are far better for sleding due to their shape and angled up edges! Square ones would be difficult to sit on too as the rigid handles get in the way!! round shields even have one folding handle for safety! see they did think about the design when they were made!!!!
I hope the rollocking was tongue in cheek, as someone already said have to tell them off for those people in society that think it was a disgrace and wonder "haven't you got some proper criminals you could be catching" .. nope because a lot are all tucked up because of the weather

Strange turn of phrase:
"Mr Latham, 50, from Oxford, said he was on the hill when the officers came over."
Is he now over the hill?
At 45, I've only 5 years to go!
Are the officers now over the hill too? Or are they still young enough to still be on the hill, but not over the hill?
Is 50 really over the hill or can I be 50 and still be on the hill like Mr Latham was in the clip?Posted 2 years ago # -
Time for your medication Ti29er. There, have a nice sit down. It'll all be OK soon...

Seems unlikely that they were the only people in the country ar**ng about when they should be working,I know I was and quite right too, carry on I say.

I’d have been more impressed had they attempted a makeshift mogul using a ballistic clipboard (yes this piece of kit really does exist).
Fairly tame harmless fun during some down time in their tour.
Good on um.

What's great is this has made the news in America!!!! Brilliant!

I'll chip in another "good on them" comment. Why shouldn't they have a laugh.

A while back there was a thread about Royal Mail delivery times or postal strikes or something and someone posted up a link to videos of posties arsing around in their sorting offices. The comments on Youtube and here were all of the variety that these people should be working rather than playing about.
In light of this thread I'll just repeat what I wrote back then:
I've not had a job yet that didn't involve a bit of dicking around when the oppourtuninty arose. Everyone does it, in all sorts of jobs. It's natural and healthy to have a release once in a while.

Great news, those round shields have expiry dates on them and when they reach it they have to be scrapped!
If the back handle is unbolted and the police insignia etc removed leaving the ring handle they make excellent high speed sledges-only for off duty use of course
Believe its called reducing waste and recycling in 'job' speak.Posted 2 years ago # -
"Is that wise?"
"Whatever happens, KEEP SMILING!"I love this:
"I have spoken to the officers concerned and reminded them in no uncertain terms that tobogganing on duty, on police equipment and at taxpayers' expense is a very bad idea"
Reminded? Sort of implies that there's something in the police handbook that they'd all forgotten about. "No tobogganing on duty on police equipment"
