I’m looking at getting a pure lease deal and the prices available for an Octavia are great. Strangely the higher spec, bigger engines are cheaper than the lower spec, smaller engines… how is that? So.. looking at the 2L Tdi SE L wit leather seats, cruise control the whole bit.
The more I look into it the more it seems that the tradiontal method of owning a car is outdated and not cost effective at all. Anyway, thoughts on the car from anyone who’s had one… recommended?

Just coming to the end of a 3yr PCP on my 2l TDI elegance (SE L) estate. It’s been faultless, lovely car, powerful, comfy and large. It won’t be replaced through as it doesn’t get used enough to warrant it at the moment.

We leased an Audi A3 for our Daughter after a Lorry written her Peugeot 106 off and the insurance quoted £5,000.00 for fire and theft for a similar aged car.
Strange now for a brand new car it cost £1,000 fully comp. the insurance wasn’t anything to do with the main dealer

Recently got an Octavia se 2.0 150tdi – it’s a nice car but a bit lacking in spec, the sel is definitely the car to get. I couldn’t wait for one to come over from Germany so had to get the se with cruise. Get 50mpg in my normal day to day driving, have seen 70mpg on long journey and getting 65mpg with the car fully loaded and roofbox on motorway

I kid you not. Behind the Web 0.5 interface and the crazy lady persona, actually have some decent deals, and have been faultless in customer service terms so far for me (got an Octavia tdi off them earlier this year).

I have a Octavia Scout on a lease deal, from the the Lightcliffe Skoda, when I got it a year ago there were a few dealers that specialised in lease that had better deals than the brokers. Brokers are OK if you have very low mileage how a high deposit.
Only thing I can fault it for is the engine being a bit load a motorway speeds.

That website *is* bonkers but the prices I’ve had have beat those on there. From speaking to others I wouldn’t go beyond 2 years as this is the term generally a new set of tyres/brakes last, then just hand the car back. I’ve found http://www.freedomcontracts.com/ and https://www.gateway2lease.com/ to be pretty good. Parkers also have a search tool – http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/leasing/search/

If you want a small engined car then you can get some cracking deals. a grand up front and then £80/£90 per month for 2 years. No tax/mot and under warranty and usually come with breakdown cover. what a **** argument…. as soon as you turn the key in any car you are kicking out a load of shite. you cannot claim to be unaware of this regardless of what car you drive. the same can be said for the power your computer is consuming.

cars are a part of life. as is the pollution they cause. sure, it would be nice to have zero emmisions, but that isn’t happening for a long time yet. and do you seriously think that other car producers are any better than VAG(ina… hehe)?

As for the contract – depends on the availability of the car you want, I think. Can be as little as a week or two if it’s at a dealer ready to go.

Price wise, it was the best I could find at the time I was looking. Things may have changed, obviously.

Simpsons Skoda have good deals on their website. Beware that you have to take a car as its specced, or wait a while for a factory build to your spec (via the Skoda route that is). Any extras on stock cars are charged at full price i.e. if a sunroof costs 800 quid extra, then that full amount is added to your monthly costs over the lease period.

Well sure, but VAG are a bit different in that they deliberately deceived the regulators and their customers.

Because people do not want brand new large diesel cars at the minute, especially from VAG.

Don’t discount the premium brands though. I am sure people were saying you can get a BMW 335d for around £300 per month.

As mentioned above, Simpson Skoda seem to do some great deals.

I have an Octavia vRS as my company car and I really like it – it’s pretty dull but was better spec’d than the BM or Audi I could have had and has loads of space which is great for chucking bikes in etc.

So far (18k and eight months in) it’s been good and seems pretty well built.

New Superb Estate looks tempting. A lot of car for the money.

the whole thing is just shy of 6k as it’s £1500 odd upfront and £178pcm over 24. I’ve signed up today and the car’s in stock and they reckon will be with me in 2 weeks.
