2007 octavia Estate, Central locking stopped working about 2 weeks ago, so have been opening with the key, sometimes the alarm goes off sometimes it doesn’t. I came out of hospital today after an operation in Newcastle, wife and car at home in Cumbria but she can’t get key in the ignition. I think it’s to do with a lock or immobiliser on the ignition barrel. Anyone able to offer any help on a fix or override. I’m assuming I’ll need a new key?

Could try jiggling the wheel a bit. Failing that a bit of wd40 in the lock cylinder?

Thanks, this has been tried by a neighbour it appears there is a little piece of metal in the ignition barrel stopping key from getting in. I thought it may be steering lock but doesn’t seem to be.
