I feel like I hit a bit of a wall with my riding recently.

I’d consider myself a good rider, but I lack a bit of confidence and skill when it comes to gap jumps and drops. It’s not that I won’t hit them, but there’s always a fair bit of hesitation when approaching ones lesser known to me. I’d just like to take them in my stride more naturally.

Rather than shelling out money on “better” components, I think taking some tuition might be a more worthwhile long term investment.

There seem to be quite a few companies specialising in this sort of thing, but I’d be keen to hear your experiences and recommendations.

I’m based in the London area (I ride Surrey Hills weekly), but I’d be happy to make a weekend of it and travel further afar to, say, Wales or the Peak District.

So am I to take it that nothing else in the UK competes with the training of the Jedi?

I’ve been on a few different courses and he certainly teaches in a unique way. Most teachers have been on the same teaching courses or at least teach in very similar ways.
So my advice is to try someone local and Jedi, it’s all good, it’s a day out on your bike

Does not matter how far you need to travel to get to him, it will be worth it. His way just fills you with confidence with out all the BS.

I did a group day with Jedi a few years ago. Changed my riding for ever – found myself repeating his words to me on cornering whilst out this morning. Got faster for no more effort. Win! Don’t have anyone to compare to but he was a great coach and a top bloke to boot. Planning to go back this summer.

As a member of STW, I have only ever heard good things about Jedi, but I have not taken the opportunity of visiting him. I can, however, offer a different recommendation.

I spent a weekend with Stuart at Forest Freeride a few years back, and had an excellent time.

He lives on a beautiful 20 acre farm in the middle of Wales, and has built a fabulous course around the natural features of the land. He provides brilliant accommodation on the grounds, and his tuition is top notch. I was doing things on the first day that I never imagined myself ever doing.

Well worth it.

EDIT: I should add that he charges no more for individual tuition than for a group.

Another Vote for Tony!

Having his own bike park gives the Jedi a significant advantage imo, as he really knows the terrain, features and flow in it, and hence is extremely good at judging and driving the days difficulty / skill progression!

Having had a days tuition at BPW, and then a day with Tony (Jedi) I can heartily recommend him. The same cannot be said for BPW team who were all trained to teach by the same person whose company is based in Surrey.

nothing bad to say about Jedi but I had one session with the Pro Ride guides who were good too. Top riders.
