I already had Smith soggles so I took them into the shop when trying helmets and this one fitted my head and goggles perfectly.
Skied for years without one but since getting one for the first time around 4 years ago it would feel odd without it. I've always used to wear a hat so why not wear one with a little protection?
Had a RED which lasted my first.day a few years back lost a heel edge and nearly split it in half. Replaced with a dainese which has been awesome since. As for the why - like a bike you NEVER know what's going to happen and the bits inside my head are quite delicate so why not
Banging heads off skis, poles, lifts and other people? Blimey there are some right clumsy folk on here.
Just me that bought a helmet so I'm more comfortable with taking bigger risks? 
Always ski with a helmet - I've had giro ones for years which has been great. Cracked one of them in half about 8 years ago and don't think I would be here without it.
Don't understand why someone would ski / board without one, you wouldn't ride down a hill on a mountain bike without one would you?
I got one last when my eldest started skiing, on the basis that if I expect him to wear one then I should too. I can't imagine not wearing it now. I too have a massive head and easily managed to find one that fitted.
I popped down to Lidl and got one today, and some nice cheap dark chocolate and assorted puddings - rude not to.
I never used to, but got a cheapo Planet X one a few years back, mostly to avoid the nasty hire ones at the snowdomes. Took it with me on the last couple of trips and didn't find a reason to not wear it.
If you wear goggles a lot, you can't lose them with a helmet (well, as long it has the little retainer strap at the back). Keeps your head and ears warm too.
Used one for about ten years. Current one from Aldi. Very good.

I use a Poc BMX/Skate helmet for boarding. I wear it about 50% of the time. I think proper ski helmets are too hot and too expensive. I can use this on the bike too.
Ideally I'd have a TSG superlight, but I didn't find one in a nice colourway last year.
I wear a Giro helmet and it feels odd skiing without one now.
On piste I wear it because of other people hitting me and off piste because there are rocks and trees to hit !!!
Yes I wear one, I see them as an essential peice of kit. Took a bad fall on a black run last year and landed directly on my head, helment took a beating and I was fine after 24 hours... Conditions were very poor and landed directly on solid ice.
Dread to think what might have happened if I wasnt wearing it...

Eh? You have a Poc helmet and think that ski lids are expensive?

35 years on skiis & for the first time I wore one this year... I'll not go without one now. More comfortable than a hat better temperature control too
I use mine when commuting in winter as well. Keeps my ears toastier than trying to fit a headband under my regular helmet
