Reason I ask is I want a steel 29er rigid frame. Swift, cooker etc but noticed the Gryphon over in the classifieds and was wondering if I can run a flat bar as I’ve tried drop bar and prefer flat bar. Riding wise it will be for general trail riding all over the place and day long pootles, nothing to gnarr and if I do I’ll be taking it easy! Thanks

From what I can make out, it wouldn’t be ideal, as the Gryphon has a fairly short top tube to make it compatible with drops. You’d probably need a long stem to make up the difference in reach, which could have an adverse effect on your riding position. However, I read that Sam uses Jones bars on his Gryphon, but I think they work okay with that geometry. You may be better off with a Swift, which is also compatible with suspension forks.
