Whats a good hub for singlespeed use. I was thinking more of a hub with bolt up fastening for using with trackends, but still shimano freewheel for adaptability. The hope bolt up would be ideal but I would prefer something quieter.

I want to replace the alfine on my fortitude, make it a little lighter and get rid of the general “driving through treacle” sensation of the hub gear.

Just swap the std Shimano axle for a solid one, for about £5.
Saw me through many winters till I got a Surly SS & White Ind combo.

I have a Hope Pro II SS hub, it doesn’t seem as loud as the older Pro IIs to me.

Hope trials are great but not quiet.

Stans 3.30 SS are quieter and lighter too (quite a bit lighter) – haven’t had mine long enough to comment on longevity but great so far, on Crests for both MTB and CX.
