I’m trying to do up my much neglected genesis day one (mini-v brake year) I’m struggling to find a reasonable rear wheel on a budget or something I’m likely to find second hand. Anyone have any ideas? The bike see’s 50/50 road and firetrack.

If you don’t want to ride it as a fixie, normal wheel with a cog and spacers on the freehub is the easiest answer.

    Edit – needs a 135mm hub.

Was that with the screw on hub? Cartridge bearings?

If so, re-use same hub, new bearings, get a decent screw on (White Industries/Halo Clickster) and handbuilt onto rim of choice – sorted…

I’d get one built with a non-disc MTB hub, single sprocket and spacer kit and rim of your choice.

I don’t mind running it with a spacer kit, I have one from an old inbred ss build. Any off the shelf roadie wheels going to be up to the task? – not investigated getting one built as it sounds expensive…

Day Ones have 135mm spacing at the back, instead of the roadie usual of 130mm. However you could prob still use 130mm hubs and bend the stays a little! 🙂

    Hmm… Maybe not then.
