Got a geared 1998 gt timberline that 'needs' to be single speeded for commuting (got geared hardtail and a road bike so why not??)……….any decent kits out there? Not looking for top notch gear, I suppose £100 max. Charliethebikemonger kits seem OK?

    Thanks

Charlie's stuff will be fine and you'll get good support as well.

DMR do a kit for about £25 IIRC

If not, ebay as they all get made in the same far eastern factory.

Just be sure you either use 9s, 6/7/8s or single speed chain, as a sprocket will need a minimum width of chain and a tensioner a maximum so you have to make sure its all compatible.

superstar components don't do a kit but they sell spacers, sprockets and tensioners. All in for £20 I think.
