  • Single chain ring on 3 ring cranks question

    I am building my first single speed. I have a 3 ring Deore LX crankset which I intend to remove the large and granny ring from. However the problem is the chain ring bolts don't tension without the large ring being in place. What an I missing do I go for washers to pad it out or do I need a specific set of chain ring bolts?

    You need short chain ring bolts available from CRC or SJS cycles.

    If the big ring is knackered just cut 4 tabs from it to space out the existing chainring bolts.
