Marin County, CaliSorry about the road bike content, but this poor-quality photo is from 1974 before I started mountain biking. I'm the guy on the right, and the fellow hanging onto my jersey is Gary Fisher.
Fifteen years later I was at the Iditabike where I tried out the "quad" snow bike, which had double wheels front and rear.

Rubbish mobile phone pic from this afternoon in the Chilterns. Everywhere that had been driven on but not salted was amusingly icy today, but tracks that hadn't been driven on were wonderfully crisp. Lots of dog walkers' tracks, but only one other set of bike tracks over a 2 hour ride - weird.

I rode last nigh at 7pm for 90 minutes.
The woods were soooooo quite with the blanket of snow.
Some corners I re-rode and adopted the 1/2 Supermoto stance / speedway position to great effect. I had some corking long sideways drifts without even stopping.
