Thats not a race bike though. Its a green hardtail that you have spent waaaaaaay too long thinking about!

Stupid bars, Flow rims and the brake levers are set up for someone with hands about 5cm wide, unless you brake with 3 fingers.

Where you thinking of racing it??

    😆

Yes… very true! What in the name of god actually is it anyway? What on earth would you actually do with it?

…looks like it's ideal for riding along a beach promenade somehwere while wearing dark sunglasses, in lurid frog-snot-world.

Stupid bars – No perfect for me as I knackered my left wrist falling out of an apple tree when I was young

Flow Rims – I did say I was going to lighten it up in the new year with possibly a pair of these http://bontrager.com/model/07936

This was it's first shot and now it's been ridden the brakes have been moved in.

I built it up with bits laying around to save costs until I get some money next year.

just under 24lbs now aiming at the 20 to 21lbs mark though

Is that ok with you now? 😉

oldgit, hijak, what are them cx zepnat frames like then? light comfy good racers? any issues?

Nothing at all wrong with it for me.
It's 1.5kg so lighter than a basic Kinesis.
It handles very well, that could be set up, but it's better than my old Giant TCX.
The geometry seems pretty compact so it can turn on the speed quite easilly.
It doesn't have a flattened top tube, but that's not been a problem at all during races.
    It's sub £400 with forks.
Any issues are down ro the rider i.e me!

    Cheers mate

After a short lay off after a crash and family issuses it got it's first covering of mud today http://www.flickr.com/photos/25655510@N02/4101234196/in/pool-onephotoeveryday

For some reason it's dead easy to clean as the mud doesn't really stick to the frame,it must be it's paint job I guess

oldgit – Pearson's have put up their prices for that CX frame this year. They are now £500. You did well. 😆

Coleman – just curious: do you race that, or just ride it?

will – liking your Giant. How do you get it standing all by itself?

Thurman Merman – The TCX has been built purely to race. The s-works for leisure, although might do a few xc races next year, and it has done a few cross races when the course suits.

Endorfin Speed II XC bike. Not raced much, but it has done a Merida Marathon and the Brecon Beast this year. It's also my 'all-day' bike at the moment.

Winter tyres fitted at the moment…

Thurman Merman – Piccie taken after build. Big ring replaced with 46t, although in most races hardly ever get out of the inner ring – such a wimp. Also now cut steerer down and running a shorter stem.

Oh, and that niner- an abortionated lump and not a race bike.

    Wrong- daft size wheels
    Wrong- heavy cable brakes
    Wrong- shopper bike bars
Wrong- bars higher than the seat
    Wrong- beefcake saddle
    Wrong- hefty rims

What exactly would you race on that? Chasing your nan down the shops?

29er wheels are the wrong size for XC racing. Should tell that to a few pros who use them!
