As above – we have a cannondale MT 800 hardtail. ‘zocchi Zi lites with reinforced steel steerer and additional preload ( but not enough air in that pic) Hope Big ‘un hubs with ryno lite front rim and mavic 721 rear, Hope M4 front Ti 6 rear

The more you put a tandem into offroad trim the less useful it is on road – although we use ours for on / off road touring with a shorter fork and more road based tyres.

For DH type riding you probably want one of these

Cost – high! Ours is not far above an entry level machine and would be in the region of £3000 new in that spec.

That Nicolai is around £3000 just for the frame and shock.

Tom – so long as you have big rotors and decent brakes its fine Its not power thats the issue tho – its heat build up. Folk are looking into this – trying using motorcycle trials calipers on 300 mm discs or double disc front ends

Magura IIRC do a tandem specific brake and hope reccomend the moto brake with the ventilated disc
