Mind is set on a Heckler when i can afford/justify it. £899 as opposed to £1400 for a Five seems a no brainer imo. Will be on 0% finance btw

The idea would be to keep the MmmBop and swap the parts over as and when (which i know in reality will mean starting buying the parts for a second bike )

What size frame/stem are you running and how tall are you?

Only forks i have are 150mm Revs - will they be ok or are adjustable travel required?

Pics and specs would be cool please

Any other similar travel single pivots for cheaper would be considered - must have a 30.9mm+ seat post though for a dropper (already got it so this is a must)

I have a Heckler - LOVE IT!

I was running it with a 90mm stem a Thomson Layback (as pics), but I have just added a Joplin, so have changed the stem to a 100mm - I am 6' dead on. I find either set up perfect for me?

The fork range I would say 140mm-160mm - I run 140mm (u-turns) and find the adjustment useful on the ups!

Medium Ano Black Frame
Rock Shox Pike 454 U-Turn Air 95-140mm
Fox RP23 Shock
Hope Tech M4's with floating rotors
Sram X0 Shifters & Mechs (with Matchmaker clamps for the Hopes!
XT Crankset
DMR V12 Mag Pedals
Crank Brother Iodine Wheels (just changed from the XT776's show in Pics)
Joplin 4 Seat Post
SDG Ti-Rail Saddle

Large 07, black anodized. Its my one bike does it all. 70mm stem. I'm 6ft 1.

DHX coil (pushed). 160mm Lyriks in pics. Its built tough but still pretty light.

Now running a pair of 2011 Vans (coil). Dont need the travel adjust.

I can't rate the bike highly enough.

Mine was 32lbs (ish) with XT776 wheelset (NOT LIGHT!) and Maxxis Minion Dual Ply (ALSO NOT LIGHT!) - I should have shaved a couple of pounds off with new tyres and wheelset, so hopefully down nearer the 30lbs, but wouldn't want trade any of the heavier duty parts to go any lighter, for the use I put it through!

I built this up for my mate, although it's now sporting some hope brakes. It's pretty much xt, air pikes and some hope hoops. I have no idea how heavy it is, but having borrowed it whilst he was away in china for a couple of months I was supprised by how sprighly it was, and I'm a bit of a light weight. Oh, and it was a blast to ride, it didn't quite win back to fs'ers, but it made me grin alot.

Cheers Rob, it took me a while to love it, & don't get me wrong, I still sometimes think I got the wrong size? It's a Large..

And I never have ridden a large frame before.. But SC sizing is odd..

But yeah, the harder you ride, the more fun it is...

It just felt, dunno.. Cramped I guess??

Felt like I was perched on it, and when I was going downhil, felt like I was gonna go over the bars?

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! I had the same until I got the longer stem and it sorted that feeling out completely!! From 70mm to 100mm

RETRO HECKLER!
Was this build, then stripped to build up my 5 spot.
enjoyed the bike but it isn't fair to compare the two, completely different ride on the 5 spot.

Ended up a bit more retro for selling, currently at my local lbs, £650 ish?

Got an old one, large, 70mm stem I'm 6'2". Used to have a 100mm stem on it (!) I should really try a 50 but would probably be a bit short for pedaling then. Got some 150mm bombers on it, lockdown is useful for climbing cause the front gets very light.
Weight...erm chunky! 34lbs ish before I put the (heavier than fox vanilla) zocchis on.
355s? I really wouldn't, maybe on the front if you're careful.

Large frame, Lyrik coil u-turn, DHX5 coil shock, 50mm stem and some chunky wheels with 2.35 StickE Nevegals. A bit lardy at 34.5lbs but just lurves going downhill.

PJ - It looks better clean

Best to sling a leg over both sizes if you can.

I'm 5'9 with 32" inside leg and they were/are Med with a 90mm stem. I could have gone Large but a shorter stem apparently but opted for the Med as it just felt better for me. I suppose its about torso length and reach too.

I am 6ft 1 1/2 with a 33" inside leg so i am definitely a large i reckon.
Comparing TT length with my Ragley they are both 23.5"

Some changes to mine since the last time...feels much better now! 90mm stem, no layback post anymore and set up with the Remote Joplin for the downhills which the Heckler loves!!
