Aye, crudcatcher likely to remove hose if it gets kicked round, so alternative required

Pal of mine has the topeak defender on his canyon. Mounted just below the reverb and fits without any modification.

I couldn’t get the crud catcher to fit so will be buying the same

I stuck on an old Defender from one of the kids bikes last night – a bit better than crud ctacher, but still need a way of stopping it taking the hose out in an ‘off’ or ‘kick’ moment …

I managed to fit my Crud Guard around the lower part of my Reverb no probs.

Not had any problems with it threatening the hose yet but there again I don’t tend to fall off too much. 😉

Pinkster – did you put the hose through the mudguard or to the side of it ?

    Hi IanC,

I ran it down the side – I did consider putting it through the gap but it was way too tight a fit and caused all sorts of problems with the hose kinking when dropping – that did look like it could risk damaging the coupling.

It floats free down the side and not got in any problems yet*.

    *I’ve tempted fate saying that now, haven’t I…. 🙄

I bought one of those Zefal’s but haven’t managed to get it to fit yet. Lost my temper with it and went back to the CycraGuard I’ve been using for the last few years.

Rate them highly – works well, tough (I’ve broken a few Defenders and the bracket on them is very weak). They used to be quick release which was effective and convenient. Doesn’t look like they are anymore but they come in white….hmmmm

Oh – and the original question – I just run the hose outside it. Have never spun it around sufficiently that it would be an issue and you’re more likely to crash when the saddles down and theres a load of slack anyway.

Thanks, that mudhugger looks quite like the zefal one – maybe worth a try, cheers

Finally got the chance to take a photo of my Reverb & guard.
