I think the HT being used for DH answered some questions about VS FS bikes
Cobblers - re-read where it was raced DH - in the Forest of Dean - so i assume on the mini-DH event ? Hardly going to get a 'proper' DH bike up to speed over a 30 second course are you ? 5 minutes in and it'd be a different story. Horses for courses and all that

slowrider - like the sovereign! what size is that? any idea of weight and cost?
Posted 2 years ago # -
its a large, full build weighs 30lbs ish, frame is around 6lbs i think?
the frame is £595 from crc, could only guess at the cost of thr build because ive funded it by selling stuff. prob in the region of 2k?

Although i was only posting to get a rise out of the OP
I think you are missing my point - i'm saying that a hardtail is probably the best bike for a mini-Dh event and certainly one in the Forest of Dean. watching that video hasn't done anything to change that view - although the chap at 1:00minute in is letting the side down a little

I guess Mark the problem is they have not invented a HT to take your godly
skills and mass, ego.Like I said in my previous post in the right hands a HT is very fast DH, its lighter, more manoverable etc but ofc it needs to be in the hands of a very good rider.... the rest of us mortals need a a FS to compensate!

5 minutes in and it'd be a different story. Please explain why it takes 5 mins for a FS to pawn a HT? most UK courses are only sub 5 min anyway... so basically what your saying is any 5 min decent and a HT will win? a FS should only be 10 seconds at most slower to get up speed... fail

CrAsH_TeSt_RiDeR.... Attracting stalkers since 1974
Simple as this Mark, if you insist on posting every time I do on here or Bike Radar to try and get a reaction from me.... guess what, you will get one! but don't then moan about what you get back, you cannot be sarcastic in every post directed at me but then whinge when you get it back! funny to see you always start without provocation. If you throw stones in glass houses things will break! now please tootle off and stalk someone else

It looks good in that size... How tall are you? I'm 5'10 and debating if its a touch too small. I want it to be easy to pedal, AND chuckable...`

its spot on i wouldnt want it any bigger and im 5 10 i had a 70mm post on it but swapped it for a 50mm and its much better. i thought it was gonna be too short and nearly went for an 18 but im so glad i didnt. i found a new place to play (practice) today near my house

cool, thats what i want to hear... Just out of interest, which model are your foxes? And the travel?
Posted 2 years ago # -
thats right in the middle ctr so its a fair bit bigger than it looks
its in leeds and thats all im saying (ive cycled past it hundreds of times as its on my local loop and never spotted it lollyons the forks are 32 talas 140mm but i never touch the travel adjust so im thinking of sticking the talas on the full sus and putting the floats on this as they feel smoother . but im gonna give a few more weeks before i decide
