Oh, double post.
This is the summit of Signalkuppe on the same trip, me on the left, but a boy (1995). This is taken outside the Margarita Hut at 5am, it's the highest building in Europe at 4500m.

Hmm, I did a time trial in similar conditions on 6 Apr 08. Trouble was I was in full aero bling with disc wheel etc. The snow suddenly appeared out of nowhere and the triathlon going in the opposite direction had to be stopped.
A few biking ones here too, as well as general travel...

Ooooh some lovely images on this thread. Top work everyone!
Grum, If you've done winter walking and a bit of easy climbing, you could easily do alot of stuff in the Alps.
This is the old monte rosa hut, my dinner just being choppered in.
This is the best hotel in the alps tho, Margharita hut at 4556m
Here's a few from our trip in January this year.

It's not quite winter yet but there is snow:

Cheers - yeah I was starting to get into lead climbing and a bit of winter walking/easy mountaineering a couple of years ago but then had a bit of a health disaster (PVFS/CFS). Hopefully one day I will be able to take it up again properly.
That Margherita hut looks incredible.
Ah yes, one of my mates has had that for 10 years on and off. He's been going thru a bad patch the last 12months. Luckily he works for the Police, so they are very understanding and have treated him well re. time off.
I had altitude sickness at the Margherita Hut, so don't recall much, luckily the top floor is a Laboratory and I got some drugs from a German lady doctor in exchange for her doing experiments on me during the night.
Great pics. I'll look some out later.
Bring on the snow shine...
Not particularly great photos but boy was it good to be there!! Glenshee that is.

A line so good I had to do it twice, lift served and no walking. When Scotland is good you can't beat it.
When Scotland is good you can't beat it.Too true.
I had one of the best days skiing in my entire life on Nevis Range (Red The Goose) this March. The snow was sublime - fresh deep fluffy powder and pure blue skies. Never forget it.
The photos above are fantastic. Thanks everyone
