  • Should I half jump on the 29er bandwagon?

I recently bought Sanderson Soloist, it came without wheels so I’ve borrowed them from another bike. Since I need to get some wheels I was thinking whether a 29er wheel up front would be a good idea.

I’ve got 2 sets of Race RC31’s 440 and 425 mm, so if they 440’s make the front too high I can whack on shorter ones.

The bike is mainly for riding in Epping Forest which is your standard rooty, boggy, rutty single track and for 48 weeks of the year it’s a horrible claggy mudfest.

    EDIT

Sorry there’s no question here. Anyone else done it and how was it for you?

it’ll probably look awful and you’ll have to carry 2 tubes but who cares about that?

RD, is that your bike? You’re right about the looking awful bit, but I’ll probably go toobless.

How about 26/650? It might look atheistically better.

I’ve been riding an Inbred 69er and enjoying it lots. I say go for it

Go for the 425mm forks straight away, shorter forks will help it look more pleasing.

Offload motorbikes rock the big front, small rear look and go pretty well in the dirt. Don’t see why it shouldn’t work on an mtb.
