Depends on where you go. I had a BB done last year and the guy at cycle surgery just charged me a tenner.

Maybe if it was a ti frame and needed a lot of material removed. Otherwise, pretty steep.

Yeah… I usually take the bike shop’s side on these sort of threads, but £80??

The tools are expensive if you get good ones, but then, so is a headset press and I’d be surprised if you paid more than £25 to get a headset installed. Facing doesn’t take all that long either if you have the tools.

No your not being unfair, she’s been mugged off royal stylee
Ring em up and ask for a price for the same on a bare frame, sounds like special Lady rates to me
    If it’s cheaper kick off

    Way too steep.

A frame prep here, headtube, BB and disc facing with no parts fitted is £20

I would recommend she has a word with them.

she got double mugged as facing BB’s is utterly unecessary.

    Complete rip-off.
If the BB and disc tabs are wonky, send the frame back – it’s likely everything else is wonky too.

… facing BB’s is utterly unessecary.

    Here we go…

oh do not tell me that the bb does not need facing……………i told her it did 😳 ❓

And to be honest does the disc mounts need facing when most calipers are fully adjustable when mounting?

I think some people are quoting lite here maybe?. £35 ph plus £5-10 for use of each specialist cutting tool. Still should not come to more than £40 though.

i’d expect £30 from the LBS.

certainly wouldn’t expect to pay more than £40-50 anywhere and if it was that much i’d question it.

Ring em up and ask for a price for the same on a bare frame

I hope that came with a free tub of vasaline. I guess it would hurt getting shafted like that dry.

    No!!

£30-£40. We would charge £30 but £40 is not unreasonable. Anything more is just greedy and wrong.

Hello short update, just back from daughters, phoned the shop and got a price approx 30 to 40 quid, one of her uni rguby playing mates went in and asked 30 quid mate. So we all went in and I had a discussion with the assistants who were not helpful, then the manager, further discussion and then they refunded £60. Bloody chancers!

Haha, what did the assistants claim? Would love to hear the justification for that one.

One cliamed the frame had never been in the shop………….production of the reciept cleared that.
One claimed more work had been done due to misalignment of the frame, it was twisted mate, right tough job!
