I need a new rear mech to replace my slx one i recently tore off and like the look of the shimano zee cos of the short cage and clutch. Could anyone tell me if it will work with my 3×10 set up or will the chain be too long for the short cage ?
    Thanks

I believe the only thing you only have to worry about is the tooth range of the cassette. One version of the zee is for cassettes from 11-36t the other is a rather narrower range (for Dhers). I’m 95% sure the number of chainrings doesnt matter.

the tooth range is a function of the chaining range and the cassette range so the front does matter. It’s something like largest front + smallest rear – smallest front + largest rear.

I’ve not looked into it but I have a strong suspicion that the Zee won’t be any good for the 3×10 setup you will need an SGS SLX/XT or similar.

zee is for 1×10 only… you need a long cage for 3×10 (that is the purpose of the cage).
