  • Shimano Zee caliper with stripped bleed nipple…

I was just working on a friends’ bike, the front just didn’t want to stay feeling bled, kept going squishy.

While at the bag point, and doing the lever hold / cycle bleed nipple bit, I noticed air seemed to keep coming through when nipple ‘closed’ so I investigated – and now wish I hadn’t. The bleed nipple came out OK, but with a mashed up chunk of caliper thread in it. Clearly this is wrecked, I’m pretty sure I didn’t do it, and assuming my mate reckons it wasn’t him either, is there any hope of a warranty swap or should we just get a new brake?

They were two rides old, but from Germany…

Sigh. I guess the bottom line is likely to be fault is in the holder of the spanner.

I’m pretty sure I didn’t overtighten but someone clearly has.

I’ve got a spare, used but in good condition, Zee caliper if you’re interested….

PM me if you want it and I’ll send some pics and we can agree a price 🙂
