    Hi
I’m looking to get a new rear mech and noticed the new M786 XT mech:

Does anyone know the max teeth the Medium will do? I’ve got a 34 rear cassette..
Also, how does the clutch work and what’s the switch for? I’ve rear that the clutch works well and reduces chain slap but how?
    Cheers

The switch turns the clutch off to make rear wheel removal easier. Pop the wheel back in and flick the switch back to on.

Medium cage has a maximum sprocket rating of 36T with a total capacity of 35T.

Are you on 10 speed? These are 10 speed specific.

Ah, I see. Thanks MrP. Yeah, running 2 x 10. Happy that it will fit my 11-34t cassette too…

Just fitted this mech. 2×10 set up works perfect with 36T so much better than normal mechs, the transmission feels very tight.
