The Shimano leaflet that came with my new rear mech is a master class in telling you bugger all however the on/off lever picture did catch my attention.

Any one understand what is does or what its purpose is ?

Cheers guys- so if I am setting the mech up,ie hi and lo stops and B screw the clutch is off and then switched on for riding ? It seemed stiff when in the on position with the bike upon the stand.

Pb2- have you been living in a cave for the last few years?
It’s stiff when it’s on to tension the chain and reduce/eliminate chain slap/dropped chains.

Yes I have and there’s a lot to be said for cave time although things haven’t been the same since Wilma took a shine to Betty and bunked off in to the sunset leaving me to deal with a dazed and confused Barney 🙂
