  • Shimano XT chains, are they directional??

Folks, just put the XT chain back on my Yeti after giving it a full service before next weeks foray into the Moray.. After replacing the chain the gear changes aren’t as slick as they were and that got me thinking, are XT (HG93) chains directional? I also rejoined the chain using a SRAM powerlink, has anyone else got any experience of doing this?
    Thanks.

While they may not be directional from new I can imagine they will wear with a certain profile when used and if reversed it may not sit with the cassette properly.

as above, may be worn funny. try reversing. Sram link is fine.

Thanks chaps, hadn’t thought of that. I suppose they can go 4 ways then, forward/reverse then flip over then same again… Mmm, wish I hadn’t bothered! Cheers
