Just converted to a 1×10 set up from 2×10.its all gone well enough but when i go to the big 42 ring on the back theirs a bit of rub due to the chain line angle, ive took out the drive side spacer to bring the chainset closer to the frame.built it up and it seems to have helped a bit,the thing i’m worried about is its a 73mm shell it should therefore have this spacer on as we know but it seems to work fine,no play in the cranks or anything nasty.does anyone know if this is a accident waiting to happen?

    Stick it on the nds.

I left mine on DS and fitted 2mm chainring bolt spacers between the spider and the ring. Keeps the pedals where they should be rather than offset to the NDS.

Your right that would be the best solution, but now i’m just curious why it works without out

Going to put it on the nds as rorsnach suggests, not sure if the spacers idea will work since ive got a 30 ring with the spacers built into it,thanks for the replies.

It’ll just compress the plastic tube spacer.

Enough length on the axle splines to apply preload to the bb bearings.
