Finding shimano’s standard fit a bit narrow around the ball of my foot, so looking to order the wide version.

Is it the width of the sole/foot bed that is wider or is just a bigger/roomier last on the shoe.

Definitely wider, but find them too short for my size.

M088 wide fit were much narrower than M162 wide fit I had before…best try a few!

I’ve spent the last 2 months exhausting all shoe options in my local shops, and half of what is available online too.
Eventually I realised that not only did Shimano do wide versions, but the lasts vary significantly across the range.
There is a very useful guide here which summarises exactly where the shoes vary in size in the different lasts.

Worth noting that the models on the chart are 2015, many of which are not available yet. I ended up with the XC50N which is the volume performance last, and fits me perfectly, but it did take a bit of research to find out which of the older models had which fitting
