The rear disc of my new Diverge has a tiny bit of movement when the rear brake is on. The front hasn’t. I’ve taken it off and done the lock-ring up really quite tightly now and it still does it.

Is this OK ? This is my first bike with this sort of arrangement. Going to the shop with it takes a couple of hours out of the day which I haven’t really got…

    Thanks

I get a little bit of movement on mine. Its annoying, and one reason why normally Id prefer 6bolt.

I’ve got some 29er shimano wheels with them and I’ve got no play at all. Mine have some very thin large washers that help take up any play.

None at all on any I’ve owned/used/serviced.

Play on one of mine. Feels a bit like a loose headset when you squeeze the brake and rock it.

Sure it’s the disc? Or the pads moving in the calliper…?

def the disc. It’s the spline interface, sometimes if the hub/carrier havent been manufactured quite perfectly enough there’s the tiniest of movements.

It was after moving the shims on the stem and re-tightening the headset that I discovered it.

Thanks, all. Up with it I will put…

Its quite common and well documented since the advent of centre lock.

One at uper tollerance and one at lower tollerance.

= movement folowed by wear, seems to get “so” bad then stops getting worse.

Preloading with washers makes no odds its a rotational play.

I hate it. I like my 6 bolts , far better design.
