Is there any way to increase the bite point without extending the lever reach?

Remove the front wheel and pads. Install the bleed funnel in to the master cylinder with oil in and plug out.

Squeeze the brake lever ONCE and allow it to return as normal. Remove bleed funnel and reinstall blanking screw. Reinstall wheel and pads.

What should happen is that the pistons sit further out and the space is taken up with the fluid that has come in to the top of the system via the bleed funnel. All this should mean less lever throw prior to pad-disc contact.

Failing the above, give them a bleed and store the bike with elastic bands holding the levers in, that always works
