Has anybody tried both Shadow+ and Type 2 rear derailleurs or are there any direct comparisons on any websites?

I need a new mech and like the sound of less chainslap

They are pretty much the same, it really comes down to if you prefer Shimano or sram operation tbh.

A friend has the shimano and it works as it should, one advantage is you can adjust the clutch.

I have an x0 type 2 and it works as it should, you cant adjust the clutch but the cage lock feature for removing the back wheel, although very low tech, is rather handy.

I think the answer is pretty much probably not enough difference to warrent changing mechs and shifters from one brand to the other. Get the SRAM one of you’re a SRAM bois and stick with Shimano if you’re running that.

Possibly Shimano a touch longer lasting IMHO….

Just resurrecting this thread slightly – does anyone know if any of these new fangled clutch mechs will be available for 9-speed?
