Good news… ordered some RS685 levers and got both levers and flat mount calipers.

Bad news…. they have come with the easy bleed. Also I am using hope RX4 post mount calipers as frame is post mount only.

So, I want to just use normal hoses, does anyone have any experience of doing this?

    1. What part number is the hose kit including barb and olive? (conflicting inf out there)
    2. One lever has inbuilt barb and olive by the looks of it. Is it simply a case of unscrewing it and replacing?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Shimano road stuff uses BH-59 hoses (brass insert – 2.3mm bore)

Lever fitting is usual compression nut, barb and olive. So you should be able to just remove easy-fit hose and whack new hose straight in.

I’m using the BH-90 hose (silver insert – 2.1mm bore) as used on newer Shimano MTB stuff on my RS685s and RS505s following a recommendation by a Shimano tech guy as a way to sharpen up the brakes. (I like mine with very little lever throw and very on-off feeling)
