    Hi Chaps,

I’m looking to buy some 180mm rotors, and a little torn between the Shimano ice-tec rotors, and some of the Uberbikecomponents floating rotors.

Interested to know opinions, I’d expect the floating rotors to have similar performance to Hope, Clarks etc…

    Cheers

Floating rotors are pretty pointless, there’s very little benefit and there’s an extra way for them to go wrong. Not even all that light- Formula do all-steel rotors that are lighter than hope floaters, just because the floaters need a lot more metal.

I use the Ice Tech rotors because the standard SLX rotors are a bit manky looking. I’m not sure that they make a huge difference but I’m not riding monster descents. They look nice though and are cheap enought from Germany.

Can’t comment about the Uberbike ones. All I’ll say is that I’m not sold on their pads because mine squeal like pigs in the wet.
