I’m already running dx’s on my hardtail but i’m unsure whether mallets would be the way forward for downhill riding?

    any thoughts?

mallets are better in mud, lower profile and generally nicer than dx imho, but youll need to perform an annual bearing change or they will fall apart on you

Depends – is it for looking at or riding? (Crank Bros and Shimano respectively)

But I use Time Zs – look awful, but bombproof and mudproof.

    That said, I’m no downhiller.

Annual bearing change my 8rse, monthly more like! Finally gave up on CB pedals, back to Time Z’s. Can’t recall why I ever changed in first place!.
