    Hi Guys,

Need a quick bit of help to help a mate get some new brakes. Never dealt with Shimano as I’m a Hope guy and unsure of the fitting protocol.

He has a Fisher Superfly with IS mounts rather than post mount. he uses 140mm rear rotors normally as he has XX ones already.

Will the Shimano brakes on Melincycles work with a 140mm rear rotor or will he need to buy new rear rotors and adapters? Are XX rotors compatible with Shimano brakes?

What’s the difference between SLX and XT brakes?

Cheers for a hopefully speedy answer. Thanks.

The new brake will come with a 160mm is adapter so you’ll either need a new 160 rotor or new 140 mm is to pm adapter to use the existing rotor.

the SLX i’m seeing also seem to have a Bite Point Adj? Hence my question really, no point in paying for anymore than required!

I think the rear adapter i’d need for him is a SMMA90R140PS correct?

OK, he now has a bigger issue. He’s needing brake because his Sram XX are garbage. unfortunately he has a direct mount X-loc fork lever mounted to his XX brake levers.

Can you get a clamp to convert the matchmaker for the X-loc to normal handlebar clamp?
