I’m building up a road bike for Sportives and general fun riding and am undecided between these 2 groupsets, anyone have experience of both please?

I much prefer the shift action on my 105 5700 shifters to the Apex ones on my cross bike. Having seen plenty of broken Sram road shifters I’m sure the 105 ones will last far longer too.

I would go for 105 unless you are in desperate need of 32 on the back to help with climbing.

Sram shifters wear out and pivots get sloppy quick imo. Shimano stis are expensive but go on and on with the exception of some oem ultegra 6600

Current 5701GS rear mech is designed to work with a 32t sprocket now.

105 shifters, apex crank, xt 9 speed rear mech with a 10 speed xt cassettes, perfect for me!
    As a complete, I would go 105.

then even less reason to go with apex

Get Apex. Or Shimano. Whichever you prefer the shift action or the hoods of. Neither is better than the other.

Neither is better than the other.

Apart from 105 shifting better, lasting longer, being cheaper and not breaking.
