My bike is a few years out of date running 3×10 and using slx m660 shifters. The left hand shifter (front mech shifter) recently died (as in fell apart mid ride) so I’ve ordered a new one via flea bay. This arrived today but my old one is a m660a and the eBay one is a m660.

I know the old slx shifters came in 9 speed and 10 speed. My question to those more knowledgable is will this new one be ok on a 3×10 set up?

I think I’m right in saying that front shifters are interchangeable between 9 and 10 speed.

Front shifters are the same for sram/shimano the only difference being ones designed for 2x or 3x shifting. Higher spec shimano can switch between both 2 and 3 chainrings
