Pete – the programme is Borgen, brilliant Scandi drama.

Aye Montalbano too, but I think there’s quite a bit of that I haven’t watched.

Sorry. Never heard of it. To be fair I don’t watch much TV at all. Drama is a bit serious for me as well.

I’m going to start watching the killing on LoveFilm. I’ve only heard good things about it but I’m genuinely intrigued as to what it is about this wave of Dutch television shows that have got British audiences so excited. Admittedly I watch a lot of Swedish and Danish cinema and think it’s wonderful, but I’m aware that part of the appeal is due to it being simply so different in its directorial style to the usual American/British movies. Is that the case with the killing and Borgen?

    eh?

I was expecting a picture of Kylie (or perhaps Thatcher)!!

I really like Borgen et al. I think one of the elements that makes them compelling is that you have to concentrate because of the sub titles. You just can’t wander off and make a cuppa or you’re lost. That level of concentration is untypical of our involvement the the usual dross we subject ourselves to.

Coincidentally just watched ‘After The Wedding’ on Netflix this afternoon – weird to see actors, including ‘Birgitte Nyborg’, and a baddy from Killing 3, playing different roles !!

Got this on record tonight as Mrs B doesn’t have a tellybox. Enjoyed series 1.

The Danish PM’s – photo in OP – hubby was in The Killing II iirc, certainly one of the Scandi drama’s.

is this worth watching? like in an addictive Breaking Bad/The Wire/Sopranos kind of way? I’ll get downloading if it is….

Kevevs – this is the second series. Best if you start with series 1, it really is excellent. 🙂
