One of our kids wants to get a new bike and flog his current DMR Reptoid 24″ wheel jump bike and obviously get us much as possible towards new one:

Deciding whether best to just flog as is and get maybe £200-250 (seems to be the selling price on ebay) or spend a bit of time taking apart to sell frame & bits separately as some of the parts have been upgraded (like Atomlab/Woodman wheels, tyres, brake, Pike forks etc. Could well raise a fair more but more time/hassle. Need to do this weekend whichever way, thoughts?

well what’s more important to you, the extra cash or the lack of hassle?

If you split it not just time, packaging (do you have any?) and postage cost should be taken into account, and ending up with parts that no one wants, along with the potential paypal seller fee’s…. but simply it should return the best profit though will also take the longest to get your money.
Obviously selling it on ebay/paypal will also mean your giving them a chunk of your profit too, so take that price and work in ‘wiggle’ room your happy to sell for elsewhere.
There numerous bike selling groups on faceache (obviously after posting here 1st) that are well worth throwing it on, as it cost nothing (if you can ignore the swapz offers).

Looks a tidy bike, get an ad on Pinkbike for free and see if you get any interest for the price you’d like to get.

Sometimes splitting a bike can result in less money anyway, due to low demand for a lot of bits.

yep, time/hassle sounds too much, will just stick on some free sites complete with a bit of leeway built in and see how it goes

I have split 2 bikes this year and sold one complete bike.

The hassle and pile of unwanted parts from the splits was very tiresome. The full bike sold for £100 more than I expected.

Sell as a complete bike, moreso on a £250 jump bike (its sometimes worth the effort on something more expensive). I’ve split various bikes over the years and have amassed a good stockpile of chains and cassettes which are completely worthless.
