I’m looking for some help. I’ve had an Alfine rear wheel for about 6 months now and had no problem with it.

Then, this week I was on a little tour with my girlfriend in the Lakes, the bike was outside in the rain all night and the gears wouldn’t shift up to an easier gear. Shifting to down to harder gears still worked. Is that the cable seized or the shifter sticking do you think? Should I put a sealed Gore cable on it?

Also do people have opinions on the Genesis iO iD as an off road tourer?
I’m looking for a mountain bike with front and rear racks for strapping bivvy kit to, that I can chuck some Marathons and mudguards on for a road tour, something adaptable.

I have an IOID and I think it would do well at that job. Sticky cable is the likely answer I thinkj
