    one thing i now know much more about cruise ships than i used to.. apparently the route is programmed in before the ship sets sail and it finds its own way around , even sounding alarms when it deviates from that precise route.
    of course add a little human error into that mix .. would you set off around the Med with a guy at the helm who joined the company 11 years ago aged 41 as a security guard?

    Someone with 11 years experience as a captain or 10 as a guard and one as a captain? Wouldn’t it depend on how much training they’d had?

    Do you normally check the CV of the captain of a ship before you set sail?
