yes it's a topeak defender, has qr clamp for seat post and is fully adjustable for tyre clearance when suspension is active, flexible tail end so it won't break if takes a clout, qr is adjustable for most post diameters, cost around £17-£18.

black – so it works better than a crudguard 6" away from the tyre

Nearer is better and it will move with the suspension.

They have a ball & socket type fitting that allows the clamp to fit off center, I'll take a pic tomorrow & check for black ones.

I just use MTFU. I find it works pretty well.

when you are a gayer then MTFU works, but normal blokes need a little more as we are already manned!!

Homosexuality has nothing to do with it.

I find a nice pile of soft mud on my saddle helps with my piles anyway.

Keeping mud out of your face OK, a bit of mud splattered up your back, so what?

wet arse – you may like the feeling, i don't! Nowt to do with mud really, it being wet and cold that ruins a day out.

    Yes sorry, I forgot
Basically you have a ball joint that can be clamped in a range of angles both up/down & left/right by over 90 degrees, the fitting kit also includes spacers to fit different size seatposts/seatstays.
I don't have a hardtail handy or else I could show it fitted.

I prefer them lightly dusted with talc, but chapped and dirty has its attraction too.

Use P clipsfitted on your stays.
