Stayed recently at an old historical castle where there was a 30 foot hole – this was used to throw people in and forget them. It has a French word but I can’t remember what it is called? Many thanks T

@thepurist, I always amuse my French friends my mis-pronouncing it and saying the equivalent of Pluto instead.

The word you are looking for is indeed oubliette. Then as why people are posting mild-xenophobic content doesn’t really suprises me (yes I am pretty sure you do find that amusing).

juan – wind your neck in. Half your posts on here about France make it clear you’re not really that keen on France or the French so make your mind up, either pro-France or anti-France, not both.

I don’t see any mild xenophobia, unless you mean that video – INWATS

You can easily be both pro- and anti- something.
