We are having a long weekend in Scotland on the second weekend of March. We will be on far north coast earlier in the week for my work and then visiting a relative in Inverness. We have Thursday to Monday to pop to Inverness and make our way back to Newcastle. Around this we want to get a decent amount of biking in. Any suggestions what might be good rides at this time of year, in the general area of the lenght of the A9 (north of Inverness we will be along the A836)? We are used to doing Scottish epics on long summer days, but not been further than Glentress in the winter.

    Many thanks in advance

P.S. I know we are still very much at the mercy of the elements but be good to have some idea of what we might be able to aim for.

Loch Bhac from Garry Bridge should break up your drive nicely.

Garry Bridge – Linn of Tummel – Upstream to Woodyard – Bonskied House – Glen Fincastle – Edintian – Loch Bhac – Balnansteuartach Farm – South Side of A9 – Blair Athol (cafe/pub) – Killiecrankie – Garry Bridge

Cheers. Looks like a good start. Need to work out whether to hire a cottage for the weekend or wing it from hotel to hotel.
