I like ripping into Chewkw as much as the next person but on this very rare occasion I think he might have a point. Why is the fact he is muslim relevant? Its as much an annoyance as labelling a gay actor or sportsman, a bipolar person or any other label that has nothing to do with the person in the context in which it is being presented.

Considering he has done this to represent Islam in a better light, his muslimness seems to be totally relevant.

Have you read the article? It’s him that the Muslim thing is coming from, he say’s that part of the reason for doing it was to present a more positive image of Islam. On that basis, the reporting of him as a Muslim is entirely relevant.

Jaysus. British Muslims are viewed with distrust and suspicion thanks to the actions of a few radicals. This guy goes out of his way, literally, to show that Muslims can be good guys too. He Sticks his kilt on and goes taps aff to reinforce his Scottishness and the fact he has a sense of humour. Great guy, feel good story, why the cynicism?
